Sonographers are tasked with remembering variations in organ sizes and orientations more than any other modality in medical imaging. Our doctors are our ultimate resources for their infininte knowledge but sometimes they do ask our opinion. I’m certain their memory bank is tasked with everything they need to remember even more than us. We all hit that mental fog and just can’t regurgitate the numbers for “within normal limits” for certain exams. The endometrial stripe is one that varies in thickness depending on where a woman is during her menstral cycle and if she is post menopausal taking hormones or not. I keep these little charts on hand for myself in those moments when I just can’t keep it all straight.
